Michael Owen, fourth all-time leading scorer for England with 40 goals in 89 appearances, looks set to transfer to Stoke next month.
Manager Tony Pulis sees Owen as an impact substitute and is eager to sign the 32 year old, so long as the striker meets the criteria for fitness and wage demands.
By signing the former Liverpool and Newcastle player, Pulis would add a goalscoring threat to the his side which finished the season with only 36 goals, the worst record in the Premier League.
